Emma has gotten to the age where she cannot leave the house without taking toys with her. It is a constant negotiation (or battle) each day leaving the house no matter how many times we leave the house, of how much she can take or what she can take with her. The biggest challenge is leaving for school, for she insists that, “I need this to show to my friends.” It could be one or two items, or a whole bag of play kitchen items. I have learned that it is easier to let her take a bunch of items with her and then leave all but two in the car when we get to school. As long as she gets to take them out of the house, she is not overly concerned if she actually takes them inside to show her friends once we get there.
